I started The Small Hall blog in late March this year. I began without any great desire to share my life with the digital world, for me it was more about the process. I wanted to learn about setting up a blog, and I liked the idea of making a commitment to writing a few paragraphs each week. Continue reading “No followers”
The workshop
The Mechanic has spent the last few days putting together my summer bike. This activity takes place in our sitting room, so it’s difficult to escape the trials and tribulations of the workshop. One evening last week, I was aware that my winter bike had been totally dismantled with the exception of a wire sticking out of one of the gear levers, and there was no sign of my summer bike taking shape…and very little sitting room floor!
Deliberately casual
If you happened to read my last post you will know that the Mechanic and I were recently on a cycling holiday in Italy. We didn’t realise until the day before we went that the Italian National Cycling Team – U23’s would be staying in the same hotel. They were there to train for the forthcoming Olympics in Brazil.
Cappuccino or Cappuccino Light
The Mechanic and I have just returned from Italy, having spent a wonderful week cycling in the Emilia Romagna region on the Adriatic Coast. We stayed at a cycling friendly hotel in Riccione a few miles south of Rimini, called Hotel Dory.
The complexities of a cyclists wardrobe
The Mechanic has cycled for many years, devising his own code of conduct for cycling, combined with the Velominati charter of rules, he has very clear and rather strict ideas on what is appropriate attire.
Bluebells
Magical carpet of bluebells to cycle through last weekend….so beautiful.
The Ideas Machine
One morning late last year I listened to a chap on the radio, talk about how to become an Ideas Machine.
My biggest fear
A few weeks ago I spotted the following adage, in a picture frame in a shop window in Abergavenny:
No refined sugar…part one
I’ve joined the no refined sugar bandwagon….well sort of…when it suits me. I do have a tendency to get drawn to new fads, but this one has stuck for a while now.
